Enjoyed walking into this tucked away gem and it's very simple menu. Ordered the combo bão and as me and my friend were eating it, the cashier realized that the one he gave us didn't have a salted egg. I had no idea, I simply thought it was delicious. He gave us a new one free of charge. I don't often see that level of honesty these days so I had to give it a 5 star review. I think more folks need to drop by here be it for a quick bite or lunch and dinner too. I'll definitely be stopping by again to try all their baos.

Delicious and piping hot! This was my first time here so I didn’t know it was take out only but it was a sunny day and there are a few benches outside! I ordered 5 bao’s and they are the size of a baseball- these things are huge! It was my first time having bao with quail egg inside and each one was a delicious new flavor! The chicken combo bao is my favorite as I’m not a fan of mushrooms, and they’re big enough to share with a group. For dessert the taro bao is warm and sweet but not too chewy! I like big baos and I cannot lie.

Food was worth the 1 hour drive. You can buy fresh ie hit and ready to eat or frozen so it can be reheated and eaten later. I think the price is a little on the high side compared to ChowKings siopao (equivalent tp their charsubao). The bao/dough could be improved by making it have a more fluffy texture. Ill go again but maybe once twice a year or when im in the area. I like that they are open in Sundat and staff/ cashier is friendly and polite. All food are to go. And they sell soda/ drinks but theres no dine in area. Plenty of parking and few minutes drive from Westfield SouthCenter Mall in Tukwila.

The place is beautiful, great for carry out, so much selection for baos. The vibes were nice loved the atmosphere. For being first time and coming from CA glad I stopped here first upon arriving in Seattle.

Small, unassuming shop that sells soft, hot buns that are practically meals in and of themselves (got the combo w/ both quail egg and salted egg, and the mushroom with a great variety of meaty, chewy mushrooms). They asked if I wanted to try their durian dessert one, so they threw it in for free, which was a nice surprise! As long as you don’t mind the initial smell, it’s pleasantly creamy and fruity! I wish I lived closer so I could get all these bao more often!

If you wish to sample a variety of hambao, this establishment is a good place to explore. The bun portions are small for the large and somewhat pricey, but they are flavorful. The restaurant is situated in a more industrial area, necessitating the use of a GPS for location. There is a small waiting area, suitable only for ordering take-out. If you opt for frozen buns to steam yourself, minimal waiting is required. However, a brief wait is necessary if you prefer freshly steamed buns. Typically, patrons spend $35+ for 5 hambao. Additionally, visiting during happy hours yields a complimentary 6th hambao.

Nestled in Tukwila, Washington, PAPA BANH BAO stands out as a humble yet vibrant steamed bun shop. This tucked-away gem crafts baos that are both hearty and flavorful, designed for those who crave a quick, satisfying meal without fuss.

The menu, while simple, boasts impressive variety and quality. Highlights like the Quail Egg Bao and the Salted Egg Bao shine with rich, savory fillings that complement the soft steamed dough perfectly. The Combo Bao Full of Topping offers a generous, almost meal-sized portion that pleases those with hearty appetites, making it ideal for sharing or a substantial solo bite.

Vegetarians will appreciate the Vegetarian Mushroom Bao, bursting with a medley of meaty, chewy mushrooms that don’t skimp on depth. For a refreshing contrast, their Shaved Ice and Dim Sum options add a touch of lightness and variety to the experience. It’s worth noting the care PAPA BANH BAO takes with customer service, often going above and beyond, as one guest recounted their honest and generous replacement of an order.

While primarily takeout, the few outdoor benches provide a pleasant spot to enjoy piping-hot baos, each roughly the size of a baseball—substantial enough to satisfy any hunger. The balance between the dough’s subtle chewiness and the savory or sweet fillings creates a comforting harmony that invites repeat visits. Though some suggest the dough could be fluffier, the fresh, well-rounded flavors more than compensate.

Overall, PAPA BANH BAO offers a distinctive, mouthwatering take on traditional Vietnamese-style steamed buns. It's a perfect stop for anyone passing through Tukwila looking to indulge in generous, freshly made baos that marry simple ingredients with authentic, bold flavors.
